About Isaac

I've spent nearly thirty years and more than 30,000 clinical hours working with the human body — as a Certified Advanced Rolfer® (DIRI), a movement educator, and a lifelong martial artist.

My practice, Motion Unlimited, has been based in Santa Barbara, California for nearly three decades, working with people to resolve chronic pain, change postural patterns that limit them, and rebuild how they move and breathe.

I trained in the classical tradition of structural integration and went on to teach beginning and advanced practitioner trainings for over a decade.

That work shaped how I practice:

patiently, structurally, and with respect for what the body is already trying to do.

Over the years

I kept running into the limits of the standard mechanical model — the body as levers, pulleys, and isolated muscles. What I saw in the clinic didn't fit it. Bodies behave less like machines and more like pressurized fluid systems: contained, responsive, organized around breath. That observation became a framework, and the framework became a book. Body of Water is the result — the model I wish I'd had at the start of my career.

Alongside clinical work, I teach — serving as visiting anatomy faculty for yoga teacher training programs and leading workshops for practitioners and movement professionals. Over the years I've trained across a range of disciplines: structural integration, corrective exercise, personal training, performance breathing, functional mobility, and qigong.

What matters isn't the list of certifications. It's that I've drawn them together under one perspective — structural and movement work as a single unifying framework — organized around a body's central task: how it organizes itself under pressure, and what changes when it learns to do that better.
